Proprio ieri, una delle ultime immense icone della musica ci ha lasciato. David Bowie, ormai lo sapete tutti, è morto a 2 giorni dal suo sessantanovesimo compleanno a causa di un cancro che lo ha afflitto per gli ultimi 18 mesi della sua vita. Grande maestro del rock, ma anche uno dei più immensi pilastri della cultura pop, Bowie aveva appena pubblicato il suo ultimo album “Blackstar”, un disco creato proprio durante la malattia che per poco non è stato rilasciato in maniera postuma.
Morto dunque subito dopo aver esaudito il suo ultimo desiderio, David ha lasciato un vuoto incolmabile che ha sconvolto praticamente tutti, a maggior ragione i suoi più illustri colleghi, In questo senso ci ha colpito molto il discorso di Marilyn Manson, che riportiamo di seguito:
La prima volta che vidi David Bowie è stato guardando ‘’Ashes To Ashes’’ su MTV, ero confuso e affascinato.
Ma non è stato fino a quando mi trasferì definitivamente a L.A. intorno al 1997 che un mio conoscente mi disse di ascoltare qualcos’altro che non fosse ‘’Ziggy Stardust’’, ‘’Aladin Sane’’ e ‘’Hunky Dory’’. Così, mi sono messo a girovagare con la mia macchina sulle Hollywood Hills ascoltando ‘’Diamond Dogs’’
Tutta la mia nostalgia si è presto trasformata in soggezione: sentivo lui cantare sulla finzione come una maschera che gli serviva a mostrare la sua anima nuda. Questo ha cambiato completamente la mia vita.
Ogni sua canzone era un modo che mi serviva per comunicare con gli altri. Era un sedativo. Un eccitazione. Una lettera d’amore che non avrei mai potuto scrivere.
E’ diventato e rimane tuttora una colonna sonora per un film che ha composto con la sua voce e chitarra.
Cantava: ‘’speranza è una cosa di poco valore’’
Non ho bisogno della speranza per dire che ha trovato il suo modo per raggiungere il posto che eguaglia la sua straordinaria, camaleontica e geniale bellezza.
Questo straziante momento di paura e perdita può essere solo curato con la sua musica.
Non perdiamo mai ciò che lui ci ha dato.

David Bowie ha cambiato il corso della mia vita per sempre. Non mi sono mai sentita a mio agio nel crescere in Michigan. Come una stramba o un fenomeno da baraccone. Andai a vederlo in concerto alla Cobo Arena a Detroit. Era anche il primo concerto al quale io sia mai andata.
Sgattaiolai fuori di casa con la mia amica indossando un mantello.
Dopo siamo state beccate ed io venni messa in punizione per tutta l’estate. Non me ne importava.
Avevo già molti dei suoi dischi ed ero così ispirata dal modo in cui si esibiva confondendo i generi.
Era entrambi maschile e femminile.
Divertente e serio.
Intelligente e saggio.
I suoi testi erano sorprendentemente ironici e misteriosi.
Al tempo lui era il magro Duca Bianco e aveva dei mimi con lui sul palco e coreografie molto specifiche
Ed io vidi come lui creò un personaggio ed usava diverse forme d’arte all’interno dell’arena del Rock and Roll per dare spettacolo.
Lo trovai così stimolante ed innovativo.
Unico e provocatorio. Un vero Genio.
La sua musica era sempre motivante ma vederlo dal vivo mi ha fatta partire per un viaggio per me che spero non finirà mai.
Le sue fotografie sono appese in tutta la mia casa oggi.
Era così chic ed affascinante ed elegante.
Così avanti per la sua epoca.
Grazie David Bowie.
Ti devo molto.
Il mondo sentirà la tua mancanza.
